El Caga Tio is not a Spanish Fiesta. As a matter of fact, if you go to Spain and ask about el Caga tio, they will have no clue what you are talking about.
El Caga tio is a tradition from Catalunya, better said from l’Occitania, not Spain

As there is no independent country of Catalunya (or l’Occitania), it is still Spain proper and what is understandable to an American beer-drinking audience. For that particular event, the log and the tasting was being run by an Iberian beer importer and the use of “Spain” would be what they conveyed to the people who would understand the essence of a celebration related to Spanish beer drinking. The blog offers up a lesson neither in geography nor history, but a fun event that we were happy to host. Thank you for taking time to write.
